Acupuncture for health and healing
“It can’t cure cancer, can’t raise the dead, and can’t reattach a severed limb; everything else is fair game.” For years, this has been my answer to the question, “What does acupuncture treat?” Many people are under the impression acupuncture only treats pain, but that is far from describing the range of this remarkable treatment. Through years of study with master practitioners, I have seen acupuncture treat a broad range of human discomforts, from digestive trouble and lung diseases to post-chemo neuropathy and mental health. Creative acupuncturists around the world continue to develop new applications for this ancient therapy. Every day, I am amazed by what can be accomplished with a few small needles.
I have extensive training in acupuncture, and continue to study. Most recently, my practice is inspired by my teachers Tsuyoshi Shimamura and Kiiko Matsumoto. Japanese style acupuncture aims to be very effective while also being very comfortable for the patient.
What to expect: Visits are about an hour, and your first visit includes acupuncture treatment. I will ask you about your past history and your current situation, and try to get to know you as a person, too. We often do two sets of needles, face up to treat the front of the body, and then sidelying to treat the back of the body. I’ll know more at the end of your first treatment, and will discuss how to move forward.
I see most patients weekly while working on a complaint, but it can be helpful to come more frequently if the problem is severe or acute. After about four treatments, we should know if I’m able to help you. More treatments may be needed. Some patients like to keep coming for treatment every few weeks for health maintenance and wellness, but this isn’t required.
